TRICARE is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) managed health care program for active duty military, their families and other eligible members. It includes a prescription drug benefit program and is administered by TMA (TRICARE Management Authority)

• DoD beneficiaries can have prescriptions filled at:
• Military Treatment Facilities (MTF)
• TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy (TMOP)
• TRICARE Network Retail Pharmacy Program (TRRx)
• Network Retail Pharmacies
• Non-network Retail Pharmacies
• DoD pays FSS/FCP for pharmaceuticals at MTF and TMOP
• When DoD reimburses retail pharmacies (TRRx or non-network) for prescriptions filled for DoD beneficiaries, DoD pays retail prices.
• When DoD pays for drugs at a commercial price, they are owed a rebate.
